David Coble - Director, Charnwood Intermediate Band
David
Coble became director of Charnwood Intermediate Band early in 2006.
He began his musical career playing in the Salvation Army Band
at Lowestoft, going on to serve with the Band of the Parachute Regiment
and the Band of the Royal Corps of Signals. On leaving the army,
he became a member of the Ransome and Marles works' band of Newarke
and later, the Snibston Colliery Band, later to become the very
successful William Davis Construction Group Band, winners of
BBC Band of the Year, and with whom David played on many recordings
for BBC radio. David has also played with Rutland Sinfonia and Leicester
Symphony Orchestra as well as several other prominent midlands musical
groups.
David's conducting career began when he became musical director and conductor of Harborough Brass Band, leading them to success in many local and national competitions. He has since led numerous bands in the midlands area and continues to play trombone with Charnwood Concert Band, Leicester Big Band and Ashby Big Band.
David is also a member of Shepshed Lions Club and sings in the church choir at St Botolph's Church, Shepshed.
